Hip preservation is a vital field in orthopedics focusing on maintaining and improving hip joint function, particularly in young and active individuals who wish to delay or avoid hip replacement surgery. The goal is to treat conditions that can lead to hip arthritis, thus preserving the natural hip joint for as long as possible. Hip preservation encompasses a variety of approaches, including surgical and non-surgical methods, each tailored to the specific needs of the patient. One common condition addressed by hip preservation is femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), a disorder where abnormal bone growths on the hip bones cause them to rub against each other, leading to pain and limited range of motion.
